Professional judgement
CogoKit provides computational tools and study material. A result produced by a calculator here is a check on your own work. It is not a professional opinion, it is not a survey, and it does not carry a licensed surveyor's seal. Responsibility for any decision made from a number on this site rests with the person making it, who is expected to verify it independently - which is precisely why every calculator shows its intermediate values.
Accuracy
The formulas here are fixture-tested against published worked examples and against exact definitional identities, and the sources are cited on the pages that use them. That is a serious effort, not a guarantee. The material is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, and neither the site nor its author is liable for loss arising from its use.
Content and licence
The prose, the practice questions, the solved problems and the code on this site are original work and are protected by copyright. You may read them, print them for your own study, and quote short passages with attribution. You may not republish the question bank or the problem library, in whole or in substantial part, or use them to train a model intended to reproduce them.
Material drawn from the Bureau of Land Management's Manual of Surveying Instructions, the National Geodetic Survey's publications and other works of the United States government is in the public domain and carries no such restriction. Where this site has adapted such material, the source is named on the page.
Examination names
Examination names are used on this site only to identify the examination a reader is preparing for. Not affiliated with or endorsed by NCEES. NCEES® is a registered mark of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. No material supplied to candidates during an examination is reproduced anywhere on this site.
Subscriptions
Premium is sold as a subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase, processed by RevenueCat and Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time from the link in your receipt email; cancelling keeps access until the end of the period already paid for. Prices are shown in your own currency at checkout.
Web access is tied to the browser in which the purchase was made, through an anonymous purchase id. Save the access code shown on the Premium page - it is how access is moved to another browser or recovered after clearing site data. See restore access.
Free material stays free. The calculators, the reference library and the guides are not behind the subscription and will not be moved behind it.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email [email protected] within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page while you are signed in on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (weekly, yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Availability
The site is provided without any commitment to continued availability. It is static, so pages you have already loaded continue to work offline, and every calculator will keep computing with no network connection.
Changes
These terms may be updated. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
